Why Some Teams Calls Have Been Choppy Lately
Over the past few days, we’ve seen a rise in poor-quality Teams calls, mostly during the morning rush (08:30–09:45). The common factor? The caller is usually on home or public Wi-Fi. On the campus side, our systems are healthy; the issue is almost always the caller’s internet uplink struggling to send audio smoothly.

What’s Actually Going Wrong?
When packets go missing, you’ll hear gaps or robotic voices. This is called packet loss, and it often happens on home Wi-Fi during busy morning hours.
Why Home Wi-Fi Often Causes This
Several everyday Wi-Fi issues can slow down your connection at home.
Too many neighbours using the same Wi-Fi channel.
Cloud backups, streaming, or game updates use up bandwidth.
Thick walls, microwaves, or baby monitors can disrupt the signal.
Older or overheated routers can’t handle high traffic.

Most recent Teams call issues are caused by packet loss on home/public Wi-Fi, especially during the morning peak. The fastest fixes: use a cable, sit closer to the router, pause heavy apps, and avoid VPN during calls.........................................................
