CHOOSE YOUR CATEGORY AND CLICK

The information below will assist you in accessing IT services frequently used in your student life.
 

You are automatically registered on the NWU network and provided with an NWU IT account after successfully registering for your courses and modules through the academic registration process. When you log into the NWU network for the first time, your User ID will be your NWU number, and your password will be your RSA ID number (or passport number if you are an international student). This revision keeps the meaning intact but streamlines some of the wording for better readability. Click to learn more

When you are new to NWU and receive your NWU number, your password is initially set to your RSA ID number@Nwu. For international students, the password will be set to your passport number@Nwu (for example, 1234567890123@Nwu). After your first login, you will be required to change your password. Please note that your password will expire every 90 days. This password, along with your NWU number, grants access to most NWU IT services.

The wireless network (Wifi) service provides access to the NWU network. Wifi is available in all buildings, including residences and surrounding areas. To connect, use your NWU student number and password to log onto NWUWIFI. All residence rooms are also equipped with pre-installed network points, ensuring seamless access to the NWU network. As a registered NWU student, you have access to the Microsoft 365 subscription (using your Microsoft email address), which includes Office 365 Pro Plus (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, OneNote, Outlook, and Access (PC only). Services like Teams and OneDrive are also part of the Microsoft 365 subscription. Click to learn more

Desktop virtualisation provides you with a full on-campus desktop experience, accessible from anywhere using a computer or mobile device capable of launching a browser or installing apps. The virtual desktops include all the software typically available on a computer lab desktop.

You will receive an MS Outlook email address upon registration with the university. This email address, Studentnumber@mynwu.ac.za, will be used for communication with the university. Click to learn more

Protect your device from viruses by regularly installing updates for your operating system. Stay vigilant and guard against phishing attacks. Click to learn more

eFundi is the eLearning, collaboration, and research management system for NWU. You will use this service for academic purposes. To access eFundi, log in with your NWU student number. Click to learn more

Bookings are subject to the availability of workstations and computer rooms. Formally scheduled classes take priority. Click to learn more

Printing facilities are widely available in computer labs and campus libraries. Click to learn more

NWU covers several software packages under site licenses, allowing you to use them while you are a student. You will need to remove the software once you leave NWU. Additionally, the IT Service and Software page offers other useful free software. Click to learn more
