CTL Open Days

CTL Connects with Students Across All Three NWU Campuses During Open Days:

The Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL) recently participated in the North-West University's Open Days across the Mahikeng, Potchefstroom, and Vanderbijlpark campuses, engaging with prospective and current students about the wide range of academic support services available to help them succeed throughout their university journey.

Open Days provide an important opportunity for students and their families to learn more about life at NWU, explore available support structures, and discover the resources designed to promote academic success. Throughout the events, the CTL team interacted with hundreds of students, answered questions, and demonstrated how students can access support from their first year through to graduation.

Students were introduced to several key CTL services, including Academic Advising, which helps students make informed academic decisions and achieve their study goals; the First-Year Experience Programme, designed to support students as they transition into university life; and Tutoring Services, which provide additional academic assistance in various modules. CTL also showcased its Supplemental Instruction (SI) programme, Peer Mentoring, Peer Assisted Learning Support, and Academic Skills Workshops that help students develop essential study, time management, and learning skills. In addition, students received guidance on accessing eFundi and Cirrus support services to enhance their digital learning experience.

The Open Days highlighted CTL's commitment to creating a supportive learning environment where every student has access to the tools, resources, and guidance needed to thrive academically. By connecting directly with students across all three campuses, CTL continues to build awareness of its services and empower students to take advantage of the many opportunities available to support their success.

Students are encouraged to explore CTL services and reach out whenever they need academic support, guidance, or assistance navigating their university experience. Together, we are building a culture of academic excellence, student success, and lifelong learning at NWU.
