Residences

Wifi

No Wifi is available in residences. Wifi coverage can be found in selected areas on campus.

 

Help in Residences

IT problems must be reported to the Residence warden if is a block or the whole residence and if it is individual rooms it must be reported to the IT Student Services at Building A1 room 130, Depending on the workload, it may take up to two working days for an IT technician to attend to the problem. In the case of a call-out the IT technician will contact the student to arrange a meeting. The student is requested to be present when the IT technician attends to his/her problem

Computer Rooms

Computer Room hours are subject to change.  The Computer Rooms are closed during university holidays when the campus is closed.  Hours will vary during semester breaks and will be posted at each Computer Room.

Resource Computer Rooms

Purpose: A resource computer room is a computer room available for use by all registered students for academic work. These computer rooms are not used for scheduled classes. A generic set of institutionally licensed software is installed.

General Computer Rooms

Purpose: A general computer room is established primarily for teaching and learning purposes and is available for use by all faculties. Scheduled classes receive priority, and the general computer rooms are available for student to use when not booked. Although the generic set of institutionally licensed software may be installed, specialized software will be installed where proof of licensing is provided.

Preference Computer Rooms

Purpose: A preference computer room is established within the faculty/department where the faculty/department may have made a substantial contribution in providing the facility. The faculty or department receives priority in booking the facility. Although the generic set of institutionally licensed software may be installed, specialised software will be installed where proof of licensing is provided.

Dedicated Computer Rooms

Purpose: A dedicated computer room is established within the faculty/department and the faculty/department may have made a substantial contribution in providing the facility as well as maintaining the computer room. The computer room is available for the sole use of the faculty/department. The hardware and/or software in the computer room is unique and relevant for that faculty/department.
