Digital Violence and Cybersecurity: Reflections from an SABC Conversation

🌐 Today I had the privilege of sharing my views on Digital Violence and Cybersecurity on SABC

This morning I engaged the SABC on the growing impact of digital violence in South Africa and the importance of protecting ourselves online. I highlighted the rise of cyberbullying, online harassment, image-based abuse, identity theft and fraud, and how these forms of harm increasingly affect women, children, students and vulnerable communities.

I also touched on the importance of cybersecurity awareness as more people use online shopping, digital platforms and social media daily. Digital safety is now a life skill. Our legal frameworks such as the Cybercrimes Act, POPIA and the Protection from Harassment Act remain essential tools for protection, but society still needs greater awareness, implementation and support.

Technology must empower, uplift and connect us. I am grateful for the opportunity to share this message and to help build a safer digital environment for all.
