NWU Learns about Research Data Management

Colleagues from the NWU libraries participated in a Short Course on Research Data Management (RDM) offered by the UCT Library and Student Information Centre in March this year.

Their participation in the workshop forms part of the larger NWU RDM initiative which was announced earlier this month by Prof Frik van Niekerk, DVC for Research, Innovation and Technology. More information about their their experiences at the workshop can be found on the NWU Library website.

On 23 - 24 June 2016 researchers, librarians, IT staff, and colleagues from the research support office will come together to participate in the first official NWU RDM workshop. The workshop will be facilitated by Martie van Deventer and Lucia Lotter from the Network for Data and Information Curation Communities (NeDICC). During the workshop various tools developed by amongst others, the Digital Curation Centre (DCC), will be employed to benchmark current policies, practices, and infrastructure supporting RDM at NWU. The workshop also aims to provide an opportunity to develop a roadmap for RDM at the university.
