The conversation regarding a possible title

When you are considering postgraduate studies, you already have a good idea of your specific subject field of interest. Before you officially register, discuss the potential themes for your work with your supervisors. These discussions can continue after registration. If it’s unclear who will supervise your study, the Research Director of the selected research unit may appoint someone to help you choose a subject title and prepare a research proposal.

Before you officially register, please visit the webpage of the research unit where you intend to enrol for postgraduate studies. This will provide more information about the unit’s focus area, research programmes, and potential supervisors.

The development of a research proposal involves many steps, from methodology selection to writing processes and proposal structuring. NWU provides a variety of academic resources, including training in research design, writing consultations, and reference management tools, to support postgraduate students. By taking advantage of these resources, researchers can craft proposals that are clear, well-supported, and ready for scientific review.
