Where are we now?

04:00 PM | Monday, 12 August 2024

We would like to welcome our new interim project sponsor, Professor Linda du Plessis. She had the following sentiments to share:

“Technology and software change all the time! As a university that strives to benefit society through the provision of knowledge and excelling in innovative teaching, we need to embrace perpetual growth and development, continuous learning, and constant improvement. As such we realise the introduction of a new LMS will require a steep learning curve but that is pivotal in supporting a student-centred approach to teaching and learning.  Ultimately better functionalities will benefit both staff and students.”

We would like to thank our outgoing sponsor, Professor Robert Balfour, for his support of the project thus far. We wish him well with his future endeavours.

The project team has concluded phases 1 to 3 of the project which included the research and information gathering, compilation of the business requirements document, vendor presentations, the POC process and the student experience phase. We are pleased to inform that the project team has now made a formal recommendation to the project’s Steering Committee (Steerco), feedback from which, will be fed through to the IT committee for further consideration. There are various approval processes from hereon which will culminate in a final selection.
