First 800 lecturers to finish the AI & Assessment Course score a R500 Takealot voucher!
The DVC T&L, AI Hub, CTL and People & Culture have collaboratively made 800 Takealot vouchers, each valued at R500, available to the first 800 lecturers who successfully complete the full AI and Assessment course. This initiative aims to develop staff’s digital skills and facilitate the integration of AI into teaching, learning, and assessment practices.
Lecturers are required to complete the 11 parts within the three sections of the AI and Assessment course, resulting in being awarded a total of 15 digital badges. These badges could be included for end-of-year performance appraisals.
To obtain badges, each part and level within the sections must be completed, which ranges from answering multiple-choice questions and obtaining a result above 80% as well as submitting a Portfolio of Evidence (PoE) for each section. PoEs will include evidence of engaging with the course material and doing the activities within each part or level of the sections. The PoEs will be evaluated by a moderator before this badge is awarded, which will lead to the awarding of the section badge if the previous badges prior to the PoE are achieved. Lecturers requiring eFundi access or technical support may contact the eFundi-helpdesk by logging a request or email them at TL-tech-team@nwu.ac.za. To add the course on eFundi you must log into eFundi, click on Membership, click on Joinable sites, and click the Join now button for the AI For Lectures eFundi site. Training for graduate students
The “AI for Academic and Career Success” course is a two-hour online self-paced course. It is free, and if completed successfully, students will receive an NWU AI Certificate, and they will have generated their own unique career plan.
Training for postgraduate students
We recommend that you do the AI course for graduate students first. A One Stop Postgraduate Site is being developed with the research office. The plan is to incorporate the ethical and responsible use of AI within the current material that is available to prepare postgraduate students for their studies.

This self-paced online AI course focuses on assessments that incorporates AI. It teaches lecturers and students to use AI on five levels.
- No AI use and to understand why this is important.

- Co-use AI as part of the assignment and to learn how to be transparent about it.
- Use AI and to create videos, text, podcast and other outputs that are meaningful to their discipline.
