Getting Started & Access

 

If I course link to a module, how long will it take to reflect? 
Once you have course linked, allow up to 48 hours for your site to appear on the course page. Please note that the course linking process for 2027 modules presented in ACADEX will only become available towards the end of 2026.

 

Does the Change Password option reset both the NWU and Microsoft Office passwords?
Yes

 

Do students have access to the Study Guides tab?
Yes, it works similarly to study guide quick link found in eFundi. Students must use their  @mynwu.ac.za account to access the study guides quick link.

 

In the “View As” section, which role should I select to view the course from a student’s perspective?
In informal sites use ‘View as LEARNER, in formal module sites use “View as STUDENT”

 

Can anyone make an announcement to all staff?

No, only ACADEX Admin staff can make public announcements. If you have a public announcement request, please send it to acadex@nwu.ac.za for review. 

Can links under NWU Support be changed or added?

If you would like to add an additional link, please send an email request to acadex@nwu.ac.za. The request will be reviewed by the ACADEX team. 

 

Is there a dark mode for Acadex?

Not at the moment.

 

Does Acadex support custom CSS?

 Yes, the CSS layouts embedded in ACADEX will reflect the NWU CSS templates available in ACADEX. 

 

Can informal course names be changed?

Yes. To change the name of a formal site, please send an email to acadex@nwu.ac.za

 

Will service modules display the faculty colour of the delivering faculty?

Yes colour reflects delivering faculty.

 

Will modules appear under separate faculty tabs for students?

Yes based on delivering faculty.

 

How do you add students to an Informal Course Site?

Use Class list → Add Existing Users or Import.

 

Can Class list searches use personal or student numbers?

Yes search by number or name.

 

Can multiple student numbers be added at once?

 Yes, The bulk import function can only be used on informal sites.

 

Once a user has been removed, can this action be undone?
No. On informal sites, the user must be added again manually. On formal sites, the user will be re-added automatically.

 

Does removing a user from ACADEX also remove the user’s activity data?
No  all activity data remains.

 

Is there a limit to students enrolled in an informal site?

No limit.

 

Can the list of enrolled users be exported?

Use print → save as PDF.

 

How do we move students from Class list into groups?

Create a group category first.

 

Who has access to the module sites?

Only students registered to a specific module site.

 

Can we start building an actual course now?

Yes, you can start building your content on an informal site and import it into the formal site once your module forms part of the implementation rollout phase. 

 

Do system administrators have access to all courses?

Yes — Super Admins and Admins.

 

Can course widgets be rearranged?

No, the layout remains the same to ensure consistency across faculties and cannot be changed.

 

How will late student registrations and Class list changes during the SIS add/drop period be managed?

Class list changes will be managed through SIS integration. We are currently reviewing the temporary student role to determine how temporary enrolments and late registrations will be handled. Formal communication will follow once the review has been completed.
