- Approximately 2,800 name suggestions were submitted during the process to find a new name for NWU's learning management system? These were narrowed down to 130, then 19, and finally three finalists before ACADEX was selected.
- ACADEX stands for Academic Excellence. The name reflects the university's commitment to teaching, learning and academic success.
- ACADEX is NWU's implementation of D2L Brightspace, selected to replace eFundi, which had supported teaching and learning at the university for approximately 20 years.
