FREE LUNCH HOUR CONCERT – 22 FEBRUARY, NWU School of Music Conservatory

 

Renowned American duo, DUOPLICITY with Trevor Jorgensen (clarinet and saxophone) & Robert Auler (piano) is touring South Africa. Both musicians are Artists-In-Residence at the State University of New York at Oswego.

 

On Friday, 22 February at 13:00, these acclaimed musicians will be performing a free lunch hour concert in the NWU School of Music Conservatory

 

Trevor Jorgensen is Assistant Professor of Wind Studies at the State University of New York at Oswego, where he conducts the wind ensemble, teaches applied saxophone, clarinet, oboe, and bassoon, coaches chamber music and small group jazz, teaches conducting and lectures on popular music and jazz.  As soloist he has won, amongst others, the SAI American Composer’s Concerto Competition, and the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival Outstanding Soloist Award. Jorgensen is also versed in jazz and commercial music performing and recording with the Oswego Jazz Project, Michael Davis, Rufus Reid, Time Absolutely Jazz Combo, Jazz on Chicago Quintet and Mother Blues and the Mojo Band.

 

Acclaimed pianist, Robert Auler, has won first prize in national and international piano competitions, including the Society of American Musicians and the Stravinsky Awards. He has collaborated with composers such as Steve Reich, Aaron Jay Kernis, Carter Pann, and George Tsontakis, and with world-class ensembles such as the Ying Quartet, MIRO Quartet and Sybarite5. Auler is also the founder and executive director of Laveck Concerts, a recital series that brings world-class classical music to an underserved portion of upstate New York.

 

Works to be performed will include Song for Bilbao by Pat Metheny, Personal Mythology by Trevor Jorgensen, Bye Bye Blackbird by Ray Henderson, Hotel Skylar by Robert Auler and more.
