Theme: “IP and Sports: Ready, Set, Innovate”

Visit the Technology Transfer and Innovation Support (TTIS) & Physical Activity, Sport and Recreation (PhASRec) Innovation Booth. This interactive exhibition is designed to raise awareness about Intellectual Property (IP) while also showcasing sports science innovation and practical tools used in physical performance assessment.

Purpose of the Booth

The TTIS Information Booth will provide an interactive and engaging space where researchers, lecturers, innovators, and students can:

  • Ask questions about Intellectual Property (IP)
  • Learn about innovation and commercialisation
  • Understand services offered by TTIS
  • Receive guidance on protecting research and inventions
  • Explore real-world applications of sports science through PhASRec demonstrations

Booth Activities

1. IP Awareness and Guidance

TTIS staff will provide information and practical guidance on:

  • Patents
  • Copyright
  • Trademarks
  • Industrial designs
  • IP ownership within the university

2. Innovation and Commercialisation Support

Participants will have the opportunity to learn about:

  • How to disclose an invention

  • Steps to protect research outputs

  • Pathways to commercialising research

  • Industry partnerships and licensing opportunities

3. Researcher and Student Consultations

Short one-on-one consultation sessions will be available, allowing visitors to:

  • Discuss their research ideas

  • Receive advice on protecting innovations

  • Understand how TTIS can support their projects

4. PhASRec Sports Science Demonstrations

As part of the interactive experience, the PhASRec team will showcase commonly used assessment tools, including:

  • Handgrip Dynamometer: Measures muscle strength
  • Stadiometer and Weight Scale: Used to determine Body Mass Index (BMI)
  • Bodystat Device: Measures body composition, distinguishing fat mass from fat-free mass

This is an excellent opportunity to learn how to protect your research outputs, explore commercialisation pathways, and experience practical sports science tools in action.
