AI is changing the higher education landscape
The use of artificial intelligence (AI) in higher education (HE) has risen quickly in the last 5 years, with a concomitant proliferation of new AI tools available. Scholars report on the affordances of AI to both instructors and students in HE. These benefits include the use of AI in HE to adapt instruction to the needs of different types of learners, in providing customised and timely feedback, in developing assessments, and predicting academic success.
AI in Higher Education: The state of the field
Two tailor made courses have been developed for students and lecturers at the NWU.
This self-paced online AI course focuses on assessments that incorporate AI. It teaches lecturers to use AI on five levels, namely building assessments, generating ideas, text editing, generating output and critical evaluation and transparency of its use.
