AI in Research
AI challenges us to develop new ways of doing research
Before the accelerated development of AI (specifically Gen AI) took place since 2023, master and doctoral graduates, professors and researchers were seen as the experts in their field of study. Now, with AI that became so powerful, AI is often reckoned as the expert in all fields. The challenge for doing research is now to incorporate AI or augmenting AI to ensure sound, ethical and responsible research is still done at universities.
AI research training is developed for postgraduate students and researchers at the NWU
A one-stop postgraduate site is being developed with the research office. The plan is to incorporate the ethical and responsible use of AI within the current material that is available to prepare postgraduate students for their studies.
Faculty specific training is offered as workshops by the AI Hub in collaboration with the NWU Research Support office.
