TTIS recently hosted a celebration event for NWU Intellectual Property (IP) Creators at Crista Galli.  The purpose of the event was to thank the inventors for their hard work, nurture relationships, and motivate them in their research and innovation endeavours.  The guest speaker for the event was Mr. Craig Wing, a futurist, entrepreneur and global keynote speaker, who gave a very inspiring talk, definitely food for thought.

A delegation of Malawians visited the NWU's TTIS office to learn how a TTIS office functions.  The Malawians' expectations were exceeded and they were well-informed and equipped to start their first Technology Transfer Office (TTO) at the Malawi University of Applied Science and Technology (MUBAS).  The NWU TTIS office will continue collaboration with MUBAS and look forward to the successful establishment of their TTO.

The Leopards Lair Competition was held on the Potchefstroom campus.  Finalists from all three campuses had a chance to present their business ideas and impress the panel of judges.  The undergraduate winner was Tshegofatso Modisakeng with her 'Midgets World' business.  The postgraduate winner was Mothekgi Maruma with her 'Supersights' business.

During the SARIMA conference in August 2022, Dr Janine Chantson received a SARIMA award for her Distinguished Contribution to the Innovation Management Profession.  The TTIS team is very proud of her achievement. Read the article here.

Mr. Mojalefa Khosa from the CIPC (Companies & Intellectual Property Commission) gave an inspiring talk on Intellectual Property at the Mafikeng Campus on 22 August.  The real-life examples he used, assisted the audience in better understanding the basics of Intellectual Property.  Listen to the recording of the webinar here
