Quality assurance – where do you fit in?

In order to create an environment conducive to employee performance, it is essential to continually scrutinise the quality of the processes in which every employee works and the outcomes that each individual delivers.

A first for the NWU
The LLB degree, currently being offered by the Mafikeng and the Potchefstroom Campus, is one of the first qualifications that was successfully aligned after the merger.

This alignment and consistent quality assessment represented one of the goals in the Institutional Plan 2009-2011.

During the first semester of this year both campuses conducted a joint internal programme evaluation (IPE) for this qualification.

The two faculties collaborated well during the process and described it as an excellent learning experience.

As a result of the evaluation report certain changes to the programme design are envisaged.

Peer evaluation of support services at the NWU
The primary purpose of peer evaluation of support services at the NWU is to ensure systematic and continuous quality development and improvement in all support departments.

The peer evaluation process encourages and supports these departments to maintain continuous improvement of the quality of their core functions. It also serves as a control measure to verify the validity of internal quality assurance processes.

Peer evaluations will also assist and enhance planning activities at the NWU to proactively act on quality-related objectives and achievements.

The following table shows the support departments that have already conducted a peer evaluation since 2009. (Click on the links to view photos of each evaluation).
